When you tell a creative like Marnee Fox that she has to choose which one of her obsessions to build a business around, she simply fuses them all together and announces her job status is ‘Slashie’ - stylist / interiors / up-cycler / maker / artist / collaborator / foodie / designer / creative force.
She then went on creating beautiful, mindful spaces, delicious and exciting wild food events and unique, up-cycled wearable art. The idea that a space, an outfit a feasting table, are all extensions of personal style and expression, means that Marnee’s approach to her work is to use her creative superpowers and intuit the most awesome, aesthetic and experience related to these things for her clients. To be able to walk into a room and see exactly how the room could be at is very best, is just that, her superpower.
With a passion for sustainability and thoughtful spaces, Marnee’s creative arts background and empathetic approach lends an often unexpected layer to her styling practice.
Having recently spent several years predominantly working for Sydney based bcorp Koskela, and previously working across residential, commercial, retail, education and community spaces, Marnee’s knowledge of materials, suppliers and the design process is extensive. Materials and manufacturers that hold sustainable and ethical credentials are favoured, and the belief that a space, event or artwork created out of consideration for these things, will possess added vibrancy and a sense of connection.
Marnee is unafraid of pushing boundaries and creates from instinct rather than the latest trends. Her motto is ‘Style over fashion’. Always.
As one half of the pop up foodie event Forage to Feast, her creativity and sustainability ethos crosses over into designing ‘food as art’ degustation experiences with wild food master (and husband) Diego Bonetto. The pair have done pop ups for Art Month + AGNSW, Galerie Pompom, Piplioti Rist, Calder projects and The Botanist Gin just to name a few and Marnee now offers seasonal ‘Foodies Forage’ workshops that also cover sustainable dinner party styling, wild food sourcing and menu design. She still get’s little kid excited with each project and loves that she gets to make the world more gorgeous and present, even if it’s only one room or event at a time.
